A lovely weekend has come to its end.
We spent it in Roslagen, the Swedish archipelago. Still winter, but spring is around the corner. Isn’t it amazing to be able to drink the afternoon coffee outdoors in the sun, in February?
The lovely thing about Roslagen is that it gives you so much – forests, farms, islands and sea. A really nice nature experience, and we just love to soak in the nice and fresh air of the countryside.
The famous Astrid Lindgren wrote the story about Saltkråkan, a place in the Swedish archipelago. This place in Roslagen, called Singö, reminds me about the Saltkråkan story, in appearance. Here I have spent all of my summers as a child, with my city friends, friends from here and family. Also winters, when we were skating on the natural ice or using the “spark” on the snow covered roads. In the autumn we always went mushroom picking in the forrest. It was a nice escape from the city and school back then – you were free to enjoy the life of being a kid to the fullest, with no worries about tomorrow.
Now it’s just as nice, but I appreciate it in a different way. Roslagen always has and always will have a special place in my heart.
